1973 was the last year for the first generation Mustangs. Starting in 1974, Ford decided to make the car smaller, added new equipment to meet US emissions, and removed the V8 (which they put back in 1975). The result was a boxy unappealing car, which we had to deal with for 20 years. In 1994, Ford decided to go back to their styling cues of the early 1960s, and reintroduced a more sleek and appealing car.
